Creating Safe Space for Students (and Colleagues) in a Learning-Centered Environment

Dan Madigan

Dan Madigan is a professor of English and the Director of the Center for Teaching, Learning & Technology at Bowling Green State University. He has written numerous articles about literacy learning and has co-authored the book, The Writing Lives Of Children. Most recently, Dan has extended his research on reading/writing literacy and narrative inquiry to include issues of technology literacy. He is also developing a series of online modules developed in an open standards architecture that focus on IT and Information Literacy competencies for future faculty.

Previous to his work in higher education, Dan taught English for 14 years in a rural High School, and co-taught language arts to 3rd and 4th graders at an inner-city neighborhood school in Detroit for 4 years.
