Professional Development
Depending on the type of request and available funding, the fpdc will provide financial support for PD or provide suggestions for other supports available at KSU.  Prior to a request, it is advisable to contact the fpdc, 330-672-2992 or email fpdc@kent.edu. Questions to consider when requesting PD funding are:

  1. What is the funding to be used for?
  2. What are the expenses involved?
  3. Who else are you requesting and receiving funds from?
  4. What is the deadline by which you need the funding?
  5. By receiving the funding, what are the consequences (outcomes) that support your Professional Development?

Research Center for Educational Technology
The RCET is a center that operates within the College of Education.  RCET is a network of university researchers and preK-16 educators desirous of studying the impact technology has on teaching and learning.  Much of the research takes place in the Ameritech classroom, a technology-based classroom and laboratory in Moulton Hall where K-12 students, teachers, faculty and graduate students observe and research the impact technology has on the K-12 students who are using the classroom.

University Research Council
Research, scholarship, and creative activity: the University Research Council (URC) is a motivating force behind all three. It is the Council’s charge to foster and stimulate research efforts and creative projects by providing financial support for the "extra" expenses of artistic and scholarly work. Applicants can receive from $100 to $2500 ($3500 for projects involving undergraduate students) for materials, supplies, travel expenses, conferences, publication costs, and guest speakers.

University Teaching Council
There are four funding opportunities available through the UTC: Travel and Learning Support, Teaching Development Support, Workshop Award, and Summer Teaching Development Awards.  Each of these awards was established for the purpose of supporting and encouraging outstanding teaching.
