Campus Conversations

Beginning in Fall 1998, the Faculty Professional Development Center began its mission to build a community of scholars. The Center and the University Teaching Council initiated an integrative phase to develop a framework for Campus Conversations; to bring together many groups involved in the study of teaching to reflect on our individual and collective efforts.

Breakfast or Lunch with the Provost
Breakfast or lunch with the Provost is an opportunity for conversation to take place among faculty members and the Provost whose focus is on teaching and learning.  This event enables faculty to share stories about teaching with colleagues among the different campuses.  Would you like to bring together colleagues from your campus for a breakfast or lunch conversation?

Campus Conversations: Making Connections in Teaching and Learning
In the fall of 2004 the Educational Psychology Learning Community, Ohio Learning Network, fpdc, Office of the Provost, and the University Teaching Council sponsored three workshops. Under the title of Campus Conversations: Making Connections in Teaching and Learning, the topics of the workshops were memory, cognition, and the biology of the brain. These interesting and enlightening workshops afforded graduate students and faculty the opportunity to earn graduate credit or a professional development certificate through the Educational Foundations and Special Services department of the College and Graduate School of Education.

University Teaching Council Conference on Teaching
Each year the University Teaching Council holds a conference on teaching during the month of October. This two day event begins with an evening reception of Campus Conversations, a round-table discussion on teaching, and is followed the next day by presentations from internationally recognized speakers, small discussion sessions, poster displays and demonstrations. The event culminates with a reception to honor recipients of the Distinguished Teaching Awards and Outstanding Teaching Awards for Non-tenure Track Faculty. All events are free and open to all conference participants.

Faculty Senate Forums

The Faculty Senate Forums provide faculty the opportunity to focus and discuss issues of common concern among all KSU faculty as an eight-campus community.  The forums aim to link faculty senators with various constituencies, provide more visibility to the roles as a senator, link the senate in a public way to academic programs and provide feedback and communication on key issues.

Moulton Scholars Program

The Moulton Scholars program is designed to enable faculty members to work on scholarly projects that can be enhanced through the use of technology.  The program offers faculty members office space, equipment, and access to pedagogical expertise and technological resources including consultation that will help them to achieve their goals.  While individual scholars may focus their work on specific courses or projects, the program is also designed to offer support for department or unit work that will contribute to continuing development over time and benefit increasing numbers of students.
