Getting Started

This module includes information about: planning & using a syllabus, ice breakers, learning student names, and classroom culture setting.

Goals/Objectives and Assessment

This section addresses issues such as using AQIP and assessment guidelines, developing course objectives, alternative assessment strategies, standards and rubrics, assessing learner outcomes, giving criticism and feedback, and alternative forms and modes of feedback to learners.

Learning Styles

The Learning Styles module includes: “Getting to know you…” (the learner), cognitive processing, preferred learning modes, brain hemispheres, adult learning, student profiles, multicultural learning and cultural differences.

Teaching Strategies

Included in this module are topics such as active teaching/learning strategies in the classroom and online, action research, building a repertoire of strategies and tactics, developing and planning lessons, and cooperative/collaborative learning.

Electronic Teaching Technologies

In this section, learn details about electronic teaching technologies, such as resources and approaches, using classroom equipment, using the Web, and using collaborative software such as WebCT and Groove.

Improving Your Instruction

Topics addressed in this section include using student evaluations, student assessments, and other data to improve your courses as well as taking and using feedback from supervisors and observers.
